What is the Foster pad?

Our Foster Pad is a space that allows us to take on larger animals in need of a temporary home.  Currently we are housing our two girls, Molly and Polly here. The foster pad is a project that was spurred on by the generosity of Phil Ballard and his family who, after Phil sadly passing away, decided to raise a huge amount of money for the sanctuary in his name. Phil was a massive animal lover and we will forever be grateful for the donation received which has now led us to create a space dedicated to fostering large animals!

Can I visit the sanctuary?

Yes- we welcome visitors, but to ensure the wellbeing of our animals, all visits MUST be booked in advance (uninvited guests are not welcome). This helps us provide a calm and safe environment, especially for animals with complex needs. To visit the sanctuary contact us directly to arrange a visit.

How do I donate?

Donations can be made quickly and securely through our website. You can choose to give a one-off amount, set up a regular donation [if we’ve made that possible] or sponsor an individual animal. Every contribution, no matter the size, goes directly towards the care, feeding, and wellbeing of our animals. We are a registered charity, so eligible donations may also qualify for Gift Aid.

How many animals live at the sanctuary?

We currently have 45 permanent residents including 25 sheep, 8 cats, 6 pigs, 4 chickens and 2 rabbits. At the sanctuary we also have our Phil Ballard foster pad where we look after and re-home animals such as smaller animals and an emergency big paddock for larger animals. All of the animals we look after receive individual attention and species-appropriate care.

How many animals has Hakuna Matata helped?

Since being founded, Hakuna Matata has already helped hundreds of animals through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and lifelong sanctuary care and continues to help more every day. Every life matters, and we’re proud of the difference we’ve made with the support of our community.

How can I support the sanctuary?
