Small Animals

Lola, aka Lola Bean (because she is so diddy) came to us during lockdown, after her owner no longer had time to care for her. Lola's birthday is boxing day!

Lola is possibly on of the prettiest rabbits we have seen, with bright blue eyes and a grey and white coat.

Lola is a very independent bunny, she preferred her own company but now has a new little pal. She is a little wary of people at first.

Her favourite treat is carrots, though she likes other treats such as strawberries, banana, apple and general bunny treats in very small quantities!

Herbie, we think, is a continental giant bunny.

He has come to us because his owner could no longer home him where he was.

He is a big bunny with magnificent huge ears and a big heart to match!!

He loves attention and is a very affectionate bunny! Just like a dog, Herbie will come to greet you and give you gentle kisses on the leg with his nose! Unusually, Herbie's absolute favourite treat is a piggy food pellet! He will wait when we feed the pigs, by the pig food bin until we give him a pellet too! No wonder he is getting so big! 

Pip Cockerel

Little Dobbie is a Miniature Lop Rabbit. Dobbie was left outside a house with a 'free to take' sign. The family took him in but then discovered they had severe allergies to rabbits. Dobbie is a very friendly little character who really loves a cuddly, he will live out his life here at the sanctuary where the family can come and visit him any time.

Lady (multi coloured) and Princess (Ginger) Guinea Pigs have come to us from a lovely lady who sadly couldn't look after them any more due to having to work longer hours and not having the time to care for them properly.

Although they get a little nervous around new people, they do love a cuddle.

This is Pip's new girl friend Betsy, she is a very friendly Chicken and Pip thinks she is wonderful.

These two lovely elderly rabbits will stay with us as permanent residents due to their age. They have always been much loved and aren't they adorable.

Walter & Reggie, the two gerbils came to us in March 2023 due to their owner having to work longer hours and no longer having the time to give them. They are very entertaining characters here at Hakuna Matata Animal Trust. We could literally watch them for hours as they explore and dig tunnels! Their favourite treats seem to be meal worms and millet! Walter is the brown/tan gerbil and Reggie the black. 

Myrtle is our newest resident. What a pretty rabbit she is.
